Message from the Artistic Director
You are invited to join the Alberta Baroque Ensemble for its 2021-2022 Season of concerts and experience why the Alberta Baroque Ensemble is a premier chamber orchestra that specializes in music composed in the 17th and 18th centuries.
You will hear performances by some of the finest musicians in Edmonton, featuring distinguished guest soloists such as Elizabeth Koch (flute) and Frédéric Payant (baroque trumpet). Works featured this season include the better-known composers like J.S. Bach, Vivaldi, and Handel, and rarer recognized greats Durante and Stamitz. We will also be premiering the Concerto for Flute and Violin by Edmonton composer Allan Gilliland, commissioned by the Alberta Baroque Ensemble.
The Alberta Baroque Ensemble’s 2021-2022 Season will undoubtedly be different from past seasons. We are returning cautiously. With patrons’ health and safety as our number one concern, seating at each concert will be limited to allow for social distancing. For the moment, concerts will be an hour or so in length with no intermission. Wearing a mask is encouraged and there will be many sanitizing stations throughout the church.
I am looking forward to performing concerts for you this season with the wonderful musicians of the Alberta Baroque Ensemble.
